Sometimes it's not so easy to keep up with things - -even things you really want to. Writing had been suspended for a time, but now I can resume...for instance - I moved! To a city famous for rain and beautiful cloudy weather. The road here had its minor events but nothing like what happened on the last leg of the trip.We were "only 40" miles from our destination, coming over the last mountain pass, when we found ourselves in an ever growing snow storm. That in itself was alarming but moreover we were in an ancient RV, with no snow tires, and 1/8 a tank of gas. So when the trucks started pulling over to the side of the road, and the cars passing us began to appear in various versions of -spun out of control - I started to panic. My companions were not licensed drivers, and our insurance covered only me so I started to freak out (just a little)besides the heater wasn't working . Meanwhile the snow storm was thickening. Slowly creeping along, the trees outside my frosted window took on a fantasy-like appearance . Giant and towering on the very edge of the road, the snow lay thick as frosting on their branches. Deep and impenetrable fairytale forests now loomed just beside us. Although I could see the other cars and trucks, I felt as though if we were to stall out here we would be left alone - they- would all escape down the mountain to the city and safety, to carry on their lives, and we would be left behind to be eaten by wolves or to freeze, or to perhaps encounter some barbarian stranger offering help at a price.Very silly, I know, because we miraculously motored past many others now stranded, and into a small outpost. We got gas, went pee and revived from the stress of a deep scare, continued on into our new life in this gorgeous country.
